9 Years of Women’s History at Rosen Hotels

March is Women’s History Month, and this year, we want to recognize one woman whose hard work has contributed to the history of Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando.

Misha Paul, the hotel’s general manager, is nothing short of our hotel hero, which is why she was voted by her peers onto the 2022 Orlando Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list.

Focused, career driven, and an unwavering tenacity are just a few strengths of Misha Paul’s character that people recognize in her.

Navigating the ‘Hospitality Hub’

When Misha Paul decided she wanted to tackle a career in hospitality, she had one place in mind to kick off her adventure: Orlando.

Paul said she moved to Orlando “on a wing and a prayer” toward the end of 2014. Her career goals attracted her to the City Beautiful, which comes as no surprise given its status as the country’s No. 1 travel destination.

Paul is no stranger to hospitality management as her early experiences in the industry date back to 2003 in Tallahassee at the Hilton Doubletree Hotel.

Over the course of her career, she worked as a general manager for a variety of Marriott and Hilton properties, but she always vied for a position with Rosen Hotels & Resorts.

It wasn’t until Paul met with Rosen Hotels & Resorts Human Resource Directors Jonni Kimberly and Dorea Mays in July of 2015 that she was presented with an opportunity to join the company. Paul was asked to pilot a program teaching Rosen associates English across all seven properties.

For 11 months, she loved every moment teaching people English. Then, a Rosen recruiter suggested Paul apply for the assistant general manager position at Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando. Paul applied and got it in July of 2016.

Paul worked tirelessly for five years as the hotel’s assistant general manager. In July of 2021, she became the hotel’s general manager, and the rest is women’s history.

How Hospitality Shaped Her

No career is easy; they all come with challenges and hardships. Misha Paul recognized this when pursuing a career in hospitality and used it to her advantage.

As Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando’s general manager, Paul manages a team of over 240 associates. She said if there’s one thing her job taught her how to do, it’s to be more patient and understanding of people’s differences. From a psychologist and teacher to a mother and a friend, Misha Paul does it all.

Above all her other accomplishments, Paul is most proud of being able to serve as Rosen Hotels & Resorts’ first Black general manager. When she first got the job, she said she had to sit with herself and truly evaluate what that meant.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity, and I understand that I stand for many others who have aspirations like mine within Rosen and in the industry,” Paul said. “I represent women. I represent Haitian-Americans. I represent Rosen.”

How Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Although “manager” is in her job title, Misha Paul isn’t alone in keeping Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando up and running. The relationship Paul has with her associates is extremely important to her.

When it comes to managing her associates, Paul said she recognizes that she is a human first and extends that grace to her employees. She approaches challenges with an understanding and compassionate mindset while remaining firm yet fair to her employees.

What Making 40 Under 40 Means to Misha Paul

Each year, Orlando Business Journal recognizes business leaders across Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, Volusia, and Brevard counties by highlighting their accomplishments and roles in their respective communities with the 40 Under 40 list.

In 2022, Misha Paul was lucky enough to land a spot on this list at 39 years old. Nearly two years later, she said this honoring still has yet to hit her.

“When people make mention of it, it still seems so surreal!” Paul said.

The 40 Under 40 list is reserved for those who have made it a mission to go above and beyond in their positions and for their communities. Misha Paul has certainly done that and more for Rosen Hotels & Resorts.

“I am honored to represent such an exceptional group of people in the Orlando area,” Paul said.
