SeaWorld® made its mark as a destination for roller coaster lovers with the opening of Mako™ earlier this year, but they aren’t stopping there. Their long-standing roller coaster Kraken® is getting an overhaul in the form of virtual reality. This was announced along with a variety of other enhancements throughout the park that are scheduled for release in 2017.
Virtual reality is a fairly new technology that’s been gaining steam with consumers in the short time it’s been around. SeaWorld hopes to be the first to apply the technology to a roller coaster experience. Riders will have the option to wear a virtual reality headset that sends you on a deep sea adventure to encounter all sorts of sea life, mythical creatures, and the Kraken itself.
In addition to the updates to Kraken, SeaWorld will upgrade and enhance a variety of attractions throughout the park, including:
- The ability to view the Dolphin Nursery from above and under water with freshly installed acrylic windows
- The debut of a brand-new night show that will feature a light and music show to immerse guests in an underwater experience
- Beginning in February, the Seven Seas Festival will bring tastes from all over the world to SeaWorld for a 14-weekend-long celebration
