January Shows at The Dr. Phillips Center

From live concerts and musical theatre to comedy, opera, and spoken word poetry, Orlando’s Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts always provides its guests with impressive, state-of-the-art performances. Start the new year off strong by enjoying a fulfilling night out with friends and family at any one of the following performances gracing the Dr. Phillips Center stage in January 2021.

Peter Pan

What better way to dazzle your little ones than by taking them to a live showing of “Peter Pan.” Their eyes will sparkle as Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Wendy, and others fly as high as possible across the stage, sprinkling pixie dust along their journey to Neverland. J.M. Barrie’s children’s classic is brought to life as a Tony Award-winning musical that is sure to keep your family enthusiastically entertained with iconic songs such as “I’m Flying,” “I Won’t Grow Up,” and “I’ve Gotta Crow.”

Presented by Young Star Musical Theatre, “Peter Pan” appears at the Walt Disney Theater on January 16 and 17, 2021. Tickets start at $32.

Hansel & Gretel

Opera Orlando presents “Hansel and Gretel” live from the Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater for one weekend only starting Friday, January 29, and ending Sunday, January 31, 2021. With two evening and two afternoon performances, you and your family have several opportunities to witness this one-of-a-kind, kid-friendly retelling of the classic Grimm fairy tale. Sung in English, the 75-minute opera follows Hansel and Gretel, two abandoned young children who fall under the spell of a cannibalistic witch after being lured inside a house made of gingerbread and other sweets. Single tickets for “Hansel and Gretel” begin at $39.

Shen Yun 2021

Shen Yun, which translates to “the beauty of divine beings dancing,” provides guests the opportunity to go back in time and experience the fulfilling culture of ancient China through traditional dance and song. This live musical spectacle brings back the lost art of ancient China through its passionate Chinese performers who each exhibit their own unique level of artistry.

Witness 5,000 years of civilization reborn when Shen Yun’s larger than life display of art through beauty and compassion plays at the Walt Disney Theater from January 30 – February 4, 2021. Tickets start at $80.
