Looking for a fresh take on the movie night tradition? Look no further than Popcorn Flicks in the Park – a collaboration between the city of Winter Park and the Enzian movie theater. The collaboration aims to bring free entertainment to visitors and residents in Central Florida. Taking place on the second Thursday of each month in Winter Park’s Central Park, every Popcorn Flicks in the Park event is free of charge and open to the public.
For the best experience, pack a blanket to sit on, a picnic or snacks to munch on during the show, and some of your closest friends and family for a fantastic night in a welcoming atmosphere.
Movies are scheduled at either 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. depending on if daylight savings time is in effect or not, but they may not start until sunset in order to provide the best viewing experience on the outdoor screen. Viewings are also dependent on Florida’s infamously quick-changing weather conditions.
Upcoming Popcorn Flicks include:
Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (April 11)
Just in time for the 30th anniversary of the movie’s release! Bill and Ted are two of the closest friends anyone could ask for, and they want nothing more than to start their own band. The problem is, they are about to fail their history class which means Ted will be sent to military school. Thankfully, Rufus, a traveler from the future, is here to help. Using his time machine, Bill and Ted travel throughout history to help them put together a final history presentation to keep Ted out of military school.
Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm (May 9)
For fans of animated works, this movie set in the 1940s pits a troubled yet heroic Batman against a mystery figure who is putting Gotham City’s most dangerous people out of commission – leading many to believe that the mystery person is Batman himself. Batman’s alter ego, Bruce Wayne, is on the cusp of marrying Andrea Beaumont who is helping him recover from his need to avenge his parents’ murder – numbering the Batman’s crime-fighting days.
Apollo 13 (June 13)
Based on the real-life events of the Apollo 13 moon mission, this movie recounts the events of astronauts Jim Lovell, Fred Haise, and Jack Swigert as they leave Earth with the intention of landing on the lunar surface.
