Late Summer Orlando Staycation and Driving Tour

Blocks spelling Holi-stay

Now more than ever we realize the true value and freedom of a vacation. We dreamed about it while we were stuck at home for months (or what felt like a year to some of us). As we wait for the worst to be far behind us, we look forward to the glimmer of recovery. So we start to plan for when we can travel. What better way to slowly get back to normal than to plan a safe vacation close to home.

Welcome to the Tropical Paradise at Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando

Consider staying at a hotel that cares about your safety. Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando provides daily housekeeping, fresh linens and towels, and use cleaning products designed to kill germs and viruses. Along with these housekeeping practices, the hotel has purposefully created an atmosphere of relaxation.

Your new home away from home has wonderful features that make this the hotel you’ll want to retreat to for the weekend. Having stayed indoors for such a long time means we need some natural vitamin D. What better way to revitalize yourself than to spend time in the sun? Here, three sparkling swimming pools welcome you to a poolside retreat, each nestled in a relaxing tropical landscape. Bring a good book, sun tan lotion, and then kick back and relax.

Stay at home orders probably also forced us out of our normal exercise routine. The fitness center, located next to one of our swimming pools, is ready to help you jumpstart your normal workout routine.

Driving Tour of Orlando and Surrounding Areas

Lake Eola/Downtown Orlando

The hub of the City Beautiful deserves at least one day. This area is great for an easy walking tour during which you should visit some of Orlando’s favorite bars and restaurants. Even a quick trip to the Orange County Regional History Center would probably be fun for certain readers.

College Park

Head out on the road to one of our hidden gems. Literary buffs probably know of this place already as Jack Kerouac’s former home is here. Bordering Downtown and College Park are the Orlando Science Center and the Orlando Museum of Modern Art. We recommend the Science Center for families with curious kids and the art museum for adults. College Park has an amazing amount of lakes, most with beautiful and peaceful walking paths around them. Rent a bike for the day and explore nature at a leisurely pace. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, you’ll have an eclectic selection of restaurants to choose from including Les Petit Pleasures (French bakery), Taste (Caribbean), and Paxia Alta Cocina Mexicana & Tequila Lounge (self-explanatory). There’s also a fine assortment of local shops and boutiques to explore.

Winter Park

Head east towards the famous Park Avenue where you can easily spend a luxurious day shopping high-end stores and dining at first-class restaurants like Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine, Boca Winter Park (farm-to-table-fare), Garp & Fuss (American gastropub), Croissant Gourmet (French bakery), Proper & Wild (vegan and vegetarian), as well as a great local selection of cafes and wine bars. We also recommend visiting the Winter Park Playhouse, a 501(c)(3) theater company that serves the local community and schools by promoting enrichment through the performing arts.

International Drive

Right outside of your hotel’s gates are midway attractions, entertaining museums, incredible dining, and shopping galore. Even across the street is a shopping, dining, and entertainment center—Pointe Orlando. Should you go, check out BB King’s Blues Club or Improv. Or catch the latest movie at the Regal Cinemas. Pointe Orlando is also home to the quirky attraction WonderWorks. Further down the strip are ICON Park™ where you’ll find the Observatory Wheel, SEA Life, Orlando’s Madame Tussauds, and other bars and restaurants. Need to shop for new summer clothes? Head to the north end of International Drive for mega savings on globally popular brand names at the Orlando International Premium Outlets.

Kissimmee

There’s more to the south of us than Walt Disney World. There are eco-tours on airboats through pristine wetlands, wild times at Gatorland, hot air balloon rides, frequent classic car shows, and the Island Grove Wine Company at Formosa Gardens to name a few family-friendly activities. It’s reasonable to stay away from crowds at this time. Kissimmee offers a lot of small group gatherings.

Back at Home Base: Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando

We mentioned a few things at the beginning of this blog that you can enjoy at the hotel. Other things worth mentioning are fine dining at Jack’s Place at Rosen Plaza next door, pillow top mattresses in your guestroom, and the great selection of movie channels on your flat screen HDTV. Above all is the high level of quality service you get when you’re our guest. Our service to you is part of our legacy. From the moment you check in to the time you check out, we work hard to make sure your stay is as memorable as possible. Experience it for yourself by clicking the orange button at the top of this page.
